José-Luis VILCHIS MEDINA (Ecole Navale) : Autonomous decision making in the presence of incomplete information and safety rules using non-monotonic reasoning

In this presentation, we will discuss a proposal for a decision process that incorporates non-monotonic reasoning (NMR), embedded in a deliberative architecture. The NMR process uses fault logic to implement objective-based reasoning to handle partially observable or uncertain information, allowing the design of default behaviours that are complemented by the handling of specific situations, with the aim of respecting the current mission objective and safety rules. We illustrate this approach with an application of an underwater robot performing a marine exploration mission.
